Getting Recognized
Gain Official Recognition on Campus
Each school's requirements for gaining recognition
are different; speak to the head of student activities to find out
specific information on whom you need to contact regarding funds
and recognition.
Questions Asked When Applying for Campus Recognition
-
What is the purpose of your student organization?
-
How do the purpose and plans of your activities
differ from other groups currently recognized by the activities
council? (Note: This is very important, as schools will not
recognize two student groups with the same purpose. Distinguish
your chapter from environmental groups and other similar groups
by describing SPUSA's broad range of issue
areas, nonpartisan stance on issues, and efforts to serve
as an educational forum for students.)
-
What is your organization's stage of development
and what are your plans for the year?
-
What are the criteria for membership in your
organization?
-
How many potential members do you hope to
have, and how do you plan to meet this goal?
-
How do you plan to fund your activities? What
fundraisers do you plan to have?
-
How will you find a faculty advisor? Please
note, a faculty advisor is usually mandatory for recognition.
