Funding

The following is a list of funding sources that may be available to you.

Potential Funding Sources

  • Seed money (available for first meetings through student government)

  • Student government

  • Student government grants for specific projects

  • Student activities office

  • Endowed chairs (endowed chairs sometimes have discretionary funds available)

  • Departments/departmental chairs/departmental deans

  • Colleges/deans/masters

  • Graduate division/deans

  • Chancellor/president of the university

  • Alumni association

  • Career placement/planning center

  • Women's Center, Minority/International Student Office, Disabled Student Office

Funding Options

Co-sponsorship fund programs may be available through co-sponsoring activities with other student organizations. Be clear about the financial responsibilities of each organization. Some questions to consider include: How will the costs be divided? Is it a SPUSA event "with" co-sponsors? Will each group have equal representation and billing? The student affairs office may be able to give you ideas for groups to contact.

Membership dues are another way to raise money. SPUSA currently has no rules prohibiting membership dues. If you are seriously considering dues, contact the national office for advice.

Advertise SPUSA on your campus, download a flyer (99K PDF).
